This medal was created to mark the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's accession to the throne as Queen of Canada. In celebration of this event, a commemorative medal has been created. The medal was physically identical in all realms where it was awarded, save for Canada, where it contained unique elements.
